State unprepared for power crisis, senator says

Jan 11, 2020

Our state is not prepared for a coming power crisis.

State Senator Tim Sheldon says nervous utilities and government planners warn of an electricity shortage just a few years ahead.

A clean-energy bill passed by the Legislature last year forces utilities to abandon coal and natural gas.

But wind and solar aren’t ready to pick up the slack.

Sheldon is proposing legislation this session that would speed up state planning efforts to help head off problems.
