$ave Washington
Our state’s families and employers are already paying too much in taxes. They need legislators to find ways to end wasteful spending, deliver services at less cost and… $ave Washington!
2025 Democrat Tax Proposals
- The state of Washington is facing a multi-billion shortfall in its operating budget – Non-partisan staff put that number at $6.6 billion.
- Senate Republicans introduced a balanced budget that would backfill that shortfall WITHOUT any new or higher taxes or catastrophic cuts.
- Senate Democrats have argued that the shortfall is in the neighborhood of $15 billion to $20 billion, and have introduced a tax package that would take nearly $20 million from taxpayers.
Government Spending
- The 2025 Democrat budget proposals grow the operating budget by 9%—to $78B
- How will Democrats pay for the 9% increase in spending? By implementing the largest tax increase in Washington state history — nearly $21 billion.
- Instead of doing the right thing by balancing a budget without new taxes, cuts in services or large increases in spending, Democrats are doing the predictable thing — taking more of your money to fund bigger government.
The multi-billion-dollar shortfall: How did we get here?
- Consistently spending more than the state was collecting in tax revenue.
- “Juicing” revenue assumptions in excess of the actual revenue forecast.
- Delaying paying for costly programs and policies.
