Sen. Leonard Christian and several SRC Senators are urging Governor Bob Ferguson to have Washington State participate in the Federal Education Freedom Tax Credit (EFTC) program. The program allows dollar-to-dollar tax credits up to $1,700 for individuals and $3,400 for married couples to go towards Scholarship Granting Organizations (SGOs). The SGOs then can give out academic tutoring, books, computers, and other supplies to students for educational purposes. It would be a huge win for students at no additional cost to taxpayers.Right now, our state has not announced any plans to participate in this program, and deadline is just around the corner.Governor Ferguson, do the right thing for students and taxpayers, and sign our state up for this great opportunity to improve and expand education right here at home.#waedu #WALeg
